It was once thought that this settlement was a myth dreamed up by conquistadors in the 16th century. A team of researchers with Conservation International’s Rapid Assessment Program recently returned from the “White City” in Morde emerged from the jungle five months later with crates of artifacts. Evidence of a plaza dotted with ancient pyramids have been found by researchers from the University of Houston and the National Center for Airborne Laster Mapping and is now reclaimed by the jungle on the east side of Honduras.
